Communication Breakdown?

"Yup. Nope. Maybe." and "Does this Dress Make Me Look Fat?" are two of the most honest books I've read on relationships between the sexes. Authors and therapists Stephen James and David Thomas attempt to decode the language of men and women with humorous anecdotes and powerful insights.

In the chapter "You're too sentive!" authors James and Thomas point out the most effective approach to working through conflict is remaining unarmed. This non-defensive stance is even more critical than psychologists pleas for reflective listening and empathizing. Statics show that couples who become defensive in arguments are least likely to feel understood by one another and therefore will stay locked in conflict. Who wants that?
